Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

This Technician will be responsible for the technical evaluation of Standard Definition and High Definition television programs for audio and video quality.  

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Evaluate programs as assigned by Networks Manager.
  • Analyze audio and video quality of programs in real time.
  • Provide visual quality assurance testing of compressed video material.
  • Provide audible quality assurance testing of encoded audio material.
  • Complete corresponding Tech Evaluation or Quality Control Forms itemizing technical specifications.
  • Identify potential violations with regard to standards & practices and send notification emails to Olympusat managers.
  • Match cut /queue sheets with each program to confirm cut/queue sheet integrity. 
  • Attend QC department meetings and follow all procedures as assigned.
  • Utilize computerized library system and update records accordingly.
  • Communicate with library, creative and network managers re: specific program status as required.
  • Maintain and submit QC and Tech Evaluation reports to Network Managers.
  • Monitor incoming emails and facilitate requests as per Administrator’s instructions.
  • Turn completed programs in to QC Administrator with “Pass” / “Fail” recommendation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITES:

  • Duties require accurate, methodical approach to testing as well as a very focused and detailed attention to audio, video, graphics and artifacts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years College/degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of television production and/or post-production required.
  • Working knowledge of HD and SD broadcast video, waveform monitors/vectorscopes.
  • Must be extremely organized, computer proficient and possess strong communication skills.
  • Individual must possess a fundamental understanding of digital audio, digital video.
  • Individual must be detail-oriented and focused. 
  • Basic computer skills (MAC/PC) are required (e.g. copying files to various media, etc.)
  • Recommended (not required) 1-2 years of experience in audio and/or video post-production environment.
  • Position is audibly and visually demanding as a significant amount of the job responsibilities include intensive testing for minor audio and video impairments and artifacts.
  • Individual will work in a multimedia production environment requiring little to no physical labor.
