  • Overview

    This position is responsible for oversight of finance and accounting activities for Olympusat. The Controller will lead day-to-day finance operations with functional responsibility over G/L accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.  This position reports to the CFO.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards.
    • Lead the team to prepare, analyze, and issue timely and accurate monthly consolidated financial statements in accordance with company’s closing schedule and reporting requirements.
    • Lead and manage five direct reports and five indirect reports.
    • Provide external reporting to banks and auditors.
    • Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit and external tax preparers for corporate tax returns.
    • Coordinate compliance with all domestic and foreign tax filings.
    • Develops and maintains all necessary accounting policies, procedures and systems.
    • Identify and implement process improvements.
    • Oversee and ensure timely A/R collections and A/P invoice postings.
    • Assist with set-up/improvement of accounting practices and systems for subsidiaries in Mexico City and Puerto Rico.
    • Manage commercial insurance broker relationship and policies.
    • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
    • CPA or CMA license required.
    • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting field.
    • Experience working for a public accounting firm a plus.
    • Supervisory experience with the ability to effectively coach, mentor/lead, and manage staff.
    • Strong analytical, decision making, and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
    • Prior experience with SAP Business One a plus.
    • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
    • Strong technical skills, including a thorough knowledge of and experience with GAAP, internal controls and processes, and tax filings.
    • Ability to be flexible in a very entrepreneurial environment.
    • Ability to travel to Mexico City and Puerto Rico.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
    • Strong work ethic, great attitude, collaborative, and a team player.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

     

    • Primarily in an office environment.
    • Travel is minimal but will be as needed.
    • Periodic weekend or evening work is expected.
    • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
